I love your website =] *Non-engineers are amazed by the fact that engineering students/engineers can perform simple arithmetic in their head and frequently abuse them because of it. When forced to go shopping I am used as a talking calculator: if an item originaly cost $78 and is now 30% of what would it cost? 10% of $78 is (3 x 7) + (3 x .8) = 23.40!!! and 78 - 23.40 = $54.60.....YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE STUDYING ENGINEERING TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT IN YOUR HEAD!!! **People prey on engineering students [future engineers] mathematical abilities; when a non-engineer classmate request your help they are really asking to waste your time, they do not care about Descartes Rule of Signs, they just want you to do their homework for them and/or tutor them because they are to lazy to go down to the mathlab or ask the professor for help because they procrastinated and the final is tomorrow and they think just because you happen to live across the hall (and have a finals a million times tougher than their college algebra I might add) they will use you to (waste your time) teach them concepts you learned your sophomore year in highschool.
