Of course we go to parties. We’re party animals. You just don’t know that because we don’t go to YOUR parties.
Look, it’s been a good run and I’ve really enjoyed it, but I have to tell you the truth. A truth that will smash these videos to pieces: I’m in marketing.
I know I don’t. Just when I thought mainstream Hollywood was going to back Star Trek, the best sci-fi film to come out in a couple of years, they completely forget about it in the best picture category. Seriously? You added five new nomination spots for BP and you looked past the rebirth of one [...]
Look, we all have to deal with interruptions, especially when you’re as smart as me. If you ever feel the need to swing by and ask me a question, you might consider watching this video first.
I can’t even believe you’re asking me that! Yes, it takes a lot of work to become an engineer. Yes, you will not enjoy college like the rest of your roommates. Yes, you will end up making a lot more money than they will, so shut up and get back to studying.
I decided to dress up as the scariest creature imaginable…no, not Carl: marketing guy!
How many of my hard-earned dollars did you spend to find out that the average video gamer is 35, overweight and depressed? I could have told you that!

Todd,
I go to schools to talk to kids about engineering, hopefully getting them interested. Would it be OK if I used your “Fairy tail” viedo (that was shown at the FIRST Robotics championships) to get them interested?
Since youtube is blocked in most schools could I get it in .avi form? or some other video format?
Thanks
PS Our FIRST robot had one of your bumper stickers on it at the Championships. The sticker about “My robot is smarter than your honor student”

Glad you like my vids, of course you can share them however you like! Where do you want me to post the .avi version so you can get it? I’ll be at the FIRST championships in Atlanta in April, hope to see you there! Look for me at the NI booth.

Todd,

You had a video in which you answer the question of if Engineers are thrifty…and you mention how one thing they’ll never spend their money on is clothes and how they’ll take any free article of clothing like old physical education shirts or company barbecues from years ago or something of the sort.
I’ve only seen that video once or twice, and I need it to explain to my friends why I dress the way I do…and why I don’t care to buy new T-shirts, unless they have trite sayings on them or if they have a picture of a monkey in lingerie…anyways, that was my favorite video of yours and I can’t find it…anywhere…all my friends that I told about this video think I’m lying just to weasel out of buying new clothes…they don’t understand, I can’t buy new shirts because I’m an Electrical Engineering student at UCDavis…not because I don’t care what I look like or don’t have money…
…a Bread Board is actually a good idea to use on my stereo system in my car…many channels for the signal output data means many speakers can be added to my car…it’s never loud enough! Even though my friends wont get in it…it’s never loud enough.
-Vahid or “V” for short, I was one of the four inventors of VLSI, I know “L” “S” and “I” if you want to meet them.

CORRECTION FOR ABOVE COMMENT:
I did not know that if you use the Angled brakets “” in a comment that it would omit your text in between them.
the above should start out this way:

I love the “V” joke! You’ll have to introduce me to the others when you get a chance! Yeah, fashion isn’t our thing…but An Engineering Wife is slowly helping me look a little less like a cube-dweller.

This video comes across as highly pompous and assinine. In fact, your entire website seems to have a holier than thou quality to it. I hope you’re better at coding than you are dealing with people.

I am both pompous and assinine (who uses those kinds of words anyway?), and most importantly, I am more holier than thou…especially when it comes to computer programming.

I’m not one to wanna bicker but seriously, ‘kcir’, what the **** was that?
You came all the way here, just to say that Todd is not as cool as he comes off as in his videos???
Do you have a life or friends?
Do you realize that there comedy behind these clips?
Just like you are not as cool or “holier than thou” character in World of Warcraft, he is not absolutely serious about these videos…just in case you’re from the “pompous” Mid-eval times…it’s his ego that is part true but a little exaggerated for comedic value…something you probably know nothing of.
Finally, seeing that you, Mr. ‘kcir’, must be a grand olde example of someone who deals with people well…but do you know how many people I know that love Todd’s videos they think he’s the funniest thing they’ve seen on Youtube and we all await his new videos and watch his older ones too again and again…that is called “dealing with people” in a positive manor. As to your last comment about Todd…you obviously don’t know how to deal with people and the fact that you question his coding ability…he’s employed by NI…probably makes more money than you and is popular due to his ability to be entertaining on video…and he’s married…why don’t you evaluate yourself and go work on your flaws, your code is not compiling and you’re just a seg fault.

I can always trust V to have my back. I have a couple of co-workers I need you to straighten out for me….

Hi Todd, I missed a couple of videos when I moved to Boston. I saw some new one’s on my feed today and caught up – love them! This one is still my favorite. By far.

Thanks! It was really fun to make because I got to be so angry.

Ooohh, There’s good info here. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

I now understand why I get so angry when I am interupted whether someone switches from the discovery channel (a special on the Hadron Collidor no less) to Lifetime, ask me a stupid or needless question when I am closing in on a solution to a linear algebra set, ask me to fix their remote/graphing calculator*/cellphone/laptop/any electronic device or ask me for help with their math homework**.
…..Please know that you made me feel much much better about my anger; I no longer feel guilty about it.
I love your website =]
*Non-engineers are amazed by the fact that engineering students/engineers can perform simple arithmetic in their head and frequently abuse them because of it. When forced to go shopping I am used as a talking calculator: if an item originaly cost $78 and is now 30% of what would it cost? 10% of $78 is (3 x 7) + (3 x .8) = 23.40!!! and 78 – 23.40 = $54.60…..YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE STUDYING ENGINEERING TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT IN YOUR HEAD!!!
**People prey on engineering students [future engineers] mathematical abilities; when a non-engineer classmate request your help they are really asking to waste your time, they do not care about Descartes Rule of Signs, they just want you to do their homework for them and/or tutor them because they are to lazy to go down to the mathlab or ask the professor for help because they procrastinated and the final is tomorrow and they think just because you happen to live across the hall (and have a finals a million times tougher than their college algebra I might add) they will use you to (waste your time) teach them concepts you learned your sophomore year in highschool.
